Advanced Extended Sports, Fitness and Management

Is the Course for me?

This sport course is year two Level 3 and further supports learners that are interested working within, Coaching, Fitness and Instructing.

This course will provide you with the opportunities in knowledge and skills in the sport and fitness sector and to facilitate progression onto higher education, apprentice and/or employment.

What is involved?

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma consists of 9 units. During the course you will study a range of health, fitness and sport units to gain knowledge in a variety of components.

Work Experience opportunity
As part of the programme you will conduct a two week work placement in a Sport or Fitness environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. Assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement.

Volunteer Hours
You will have the opportunity to complete 30 hours working with the college sport enrichment team in supporting sport events, weekly sport and exercise enrichment sessions and supporting activities in the fitness suite.

Enrichment Activities
A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are sport activities, workshops, outings and debates. There is also the opportunity to request other enrichment activities that you have an interest in.

i - Learning Sessions
This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning.

Curriculum Tutorials
Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs. This could occur during the daytime and evenings.

Progression

On completion of this qualification, you may want to progress into employment or complete another qualification at Newham College London. If you are staying within sport’s ever growing industry the follow courses may be of interest to you:

Course Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs A-C including English, Maths, PE or Science and/or equivalent. Completed BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sport.
