Is the Course for me?

The purpose of an HNC in Business is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the business sector with the skills needed to adapt to a constantly changing world.
The course aims to widen access to higher education, enhance your career prospects and ultimately give you the practical and professional knowledge you need to succeed in this highly competitive field. So, if you are planning to pursue a career in Business, Marketing or Human Resource Management, then this the course for you.

What is involved?

The HNC Business course provides students with a wide-ranging introduction to the study of the business sector as well as a well-supported introduction to higher education study. The course has a strong focus upon employability to equip you for a successful career in Business. It is envisaged that the majority of students will continue their studies into a second or third year where there are options go study for HND qualifications in Business (Human Resources) and Business (Marketing) as well as a full BA (Hons) degree in Business & Management.
The awarding organization for this course is Pearson Edexcel.


Graduates from this course will be well equipped to further their careers in the Business sector. Alternatively, many will continue their studies by progressing on to an HND level 5 course in year 2. Upon successful completion of the HNC and HND, you can then move onto a BA (Hons) Business and Management programme at Newham College.

Course Requirements

  • Candidates will be expected to hold a UK Level 3 Diploma or A Level standard course or equivalent or similar. GCSE grades A - C in English and Maths, or level 2 equivalents are also required. Candidates without formal qualifications will be able to demonstrate level 2 competencies at the initial assessment. Please note that all applicants will undergo an initial assessment.
